Taipei, March 2010 – Linpus, the popular Linux distribution for the consumer PC market, recently announced that it had joined the Open Invention Network (OIN) licensee program. The OIN is an organization set up to deter issues related to patents and encourage innovation around the Linux system.

“As an open source company we believe strongly in the work of the Open Invention Network,” said Rita Jing, vice president of sales. “Their work protecting Linux against patent aggression and in troll deterrence is instrumental to ensuring that Linux can maintain its incredible pace of innovation.”

Linpus has been around for more than 10 years, shipping for some of the world's largest OEMs. It has been a key player in Greater China since its inception, and has recently been steadily increasing its contribution to the worldwide Linux ecosystem.
