Linpus Technologies, Inc recently announced they have become a member of the Linux Foundation (LF), the nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the growth of Linux.
Linpus is one of the most successful and popular Linux distributions in the consumer PC market, its ultra-intuitive netbook and nettop-based operating system, Linpus Lite, has been the Linux netbook operating system of choice of several of the world's largest PC manufacturers.
Linpus has been at the forefront of creating consumer ready Linux for many years. It was one of the first companies to foresee trends for devices that required less computing power, better battery life and faster boot-up, creating Linpus Lite back in 2007. Since that time many of the world's leaning companies have thrown their weight behind open source software announcing projects aimed at the mobile computing space. Linpus has got involved in many of those projects, of particular note being the Moblin™ project sponsored by Intel, which is now hosted by the Linux Foundation.
Linpus has been a key Moblin project OSV now for nearly two years, creating the first Moblin-based operating systems used in a commercial product and one of the first versions of a Moblin V2.1 – based operating system.
As a member of Linux Foundation, Linpus plans to continue its key vendor role within the Moblin project – as well as increasing its participation in Linux community in general and at key Linux events.
* Moblin is a trademark of Intel Corporation in the U.S. and other countries
