Taipei, July 28th, 2011 – Today Linpus, a leader in the field of open source operating system solutions in the consumer space, announced the availability of their Ultimate Keyboard application in the Android application store.

Recently, Linpus has been working hard on bringing their user interface design and software research and development expertise to the Android area with a version of Linpus Lite for Android, Linpus Lite Android Edition. That edition has a customized UI layer from Linpus for ease-of-use, it is compatible with X86 and Arm chips, and has a number of Linpus applications, including: Linpus eReader, Location Planner  and Ultimate keyboard applications.

Linpus Ultimate Keyboard is an entirely new application designed to address a gap in functionality for Android. It does so in several ways. Firstly, it is a soft keyboard with support for more than 25 languages. These languages can be easily swapped between, so, for example, if you need to add a French 'e' it can be done so by tapping over to a French keyboard. Additionally, the keyboard can be set to make a tapping noise or to vibrate as you touch it. Secondly, Linpus has implemented support for external keyboards through both bluetooth and USB. As well giving this ability to use external keyboards, Linpus has integrated the language functionality highlighted above with the external keyboard. On your external keyboard  you can just tap Ctrl + Space to change between the 25 languages included with this application.

“Linpus has accumulated tremendous experience in keyboard development,” said Rita Jing, vice-president of sales. “Support for external keyboards means those who need to use their device as a productivity tool now have more options.”

Jing went on to say that the application has met with considerable interest from linpus OEM hardware partners. However, the application is free to download from the Android Market for end users.
