Linpus is an innovator and a pioneer in bringing user friendly open source solutions to the mass consumer market. Since its set-up, Linpus has worked on open source solutions across numerous platforms and products, building up a reputation for engineering excellence, and evolving into a world class software vendor. The products and platforms we have worked on include: netbook, phone, PDA, notebook, PC, Arm, Intel X86, Moblin and Android. In 2008, our netbook operating system Linpus Linux Lite, was the choice of several of the worlds largest ODMs’ netbooks, making it the leading product in the netbook space. To date in 2009 we continue to stay ahead: we are one of the first to market with an Intel sponsored Moblin V2 product and are adding support for Arm and Android to our mobile product range.

Employees

Linpus has more than 150 employees split between its headquarters in Nangang Software Park, Taipei, and its branch office in Shanghai. Of these more than eighty are employed in research and development.

History

  • 2009 – Linpus launches several super-fast instant-on operating systems and one of the first Moblin V2 products.
  • 2008 - Linpus Linux Lite is chosen for several of the worlds largest ODMs' netbooks. Linpus becomes Moblin OSV.
  • 2007- More than 5 million devices bundled with Linpus software sold.
  • 2003- Linpus Linux becomes Linux distribution of Taiwan government.
  • 2003- Linpus starts business as X window vendor of Acer, BenQ and Asus.
  • 2001- Linpus distribution and instant-on media center solution.
  • 2000- Linpus embedded GUI platform solution.

As a member of the Moblin project, Intel’s Linux platform for netbooks and MIDs, Linpus has developed a close working relationship with Intel. We have excellent working relations with most of the key manufacturers: Acer, ASUS, BenQ, VIA, HP, Dell, MiTAC, Inventec, Quanta, Wistron, Foxconn… among others.
